ARTISTS STATEMENT

As an artist that passionately writes for social change as it relates to the Black diaspora, bringing stories like this with the themes of identity, representation, psychological tools of oppression, the history of lack of agency of black female bodies, and the epidemic of missing Black girls and women in this country that run throughout, to the fore is a necessity. - AJA

This short film highlights the stigmas that permeate our society as it pertains to what it means to be a successful Black woman in America, and the often conflicting and wildly unrealistic expectations placed on us to fit various molds. The decision to explore these themes through the psychological thriller genre also inevitably contributes to a particular film landscape that often excludes the Black female perspective. - REGINA
